I made some curtains.....

And I didn't hurt myself! Such a relief it was to be able to make curtains for my boys closet in place of the doors! I felt a sense of purpose! I really enjoyed making them. It took me a little under 2 hours to complete them. Yes, I know that is kind of slow but hey I got it done and that's what matters. I never knew sewing could be so fun and enlightening! I feel like I am becoming more and more like the Proverbs 31 woman everyday! (I am still 1 million light years away from being even a quarter of the women she was. But hey it is a work in progress.) I found such delight in singing worship music and talking to God in that time... I think I will send my hubby away more often :)

But back to the curtains... They turned out pretty good, I still need to hem up one side a bit to make them equal in length. What are your thoughts? Remember I am merely just a rookie this is only my second time using a sewing machine ever!

Thank you So much! :) I wish you were still local I would love to know how to sew in a straight line! I can't seem to get it. But I am not as bad as the first time I did it :)

They look awesome! great job <3 and sewing in a straight line just takes practice you will get it but does your machine have lines on it? usually they do like measuring marks and if you use those it will help keep you straight

Thank you Haley! Yes the machine has those lines and I was using them as a guide but, I still can't seem to keep it straight. But I'm sure with all things it takes time and practice! I hope one day to be really good at it :)

I'll be back in Naples on Oct 17! :) We've decided that I'm going to have the baby with our midwife there, so we'll be around until he decides to come so maybe we can have a little sewing date.

I've heard of people just taking notebook paper and with your machine NOT threaded just sewing over the lines on the paper to practice. I've never done that though. When I quilt I use blue painters tape on the fabric and sew along side that line to make sure I get straight lines sometimes. Hope that helps!

That's so great that you are comming back to have the baby! Can't wait to see you! A sewing date would be great! Thank you for your advice, I'll take all of the advice that I can get! I will give those things a try. I'm sure I will get the hang of it after awhile.
