Mouse pad makeover!

So I have had this nasty mouse pad that houses my mouse at work. It is something I see and use everyday and the look of it was killing me! I mean really how does a mouse pad get so icky? Well I could no longer stand it, I knew I had to get a new one from the supply cabinet. (but to me that just seemed like such a waste) I mean I knew the next one would be clean but boring and that I would never be totally happy with it, so I decided to make it pretty! I like to surround myself with pretty things! (who doesn't?) So I was like "ok I am going to give this pad a full body makeover"!!! So I knew I had some pretty fabric sitting around at home that would look lovely on it! All I needed was something to go under it  you know to cover up the fabric so I thought well maybe felt?? And then thought no that would slide around too much so I looked up and down the aisles at the craft store and found foam! Duh, Why didn't I think of it sooner? And for 30 cents a piece I was happy :)

So here is what you will need for this project:

- Fabric (Make sure you have enough to doubled it so your mouse pad doesn't show through)
- Mod Podge (Glue)
- Foam paint brush (For brushing your glue on)
- Foam (They come in squares at the craft store)

Step One:

Cut your fabric & foam to size  (Sorry no pictures, but this is pretty self explanatory)

Step Two:

Put mouse pad face down on folded fabric.

Step Three:

Start applying glue to the back edges of the mouse pad, all the way around. Then put your fabric on top of the glue folding as needed. (Again very easy no pictures)

Step Four:

After all the pieces are glued down go over the top of them with more glue to make sure they are really stuck down!

Step Five:

Cover one size of the foam with glue. Then paste on the back of your mouse pad. Then maybe get a heavy book and leave it on top of the mouse pad all night to make sure it all holds together!

And that's it, it's that easy! So for the cost of 30 cents I have this completely cute totally functional mouse pad! Check it out!

Here is the finished product! (Sorry the picture is so bad it was taken at night!)

And here she is in her home on my desk at work! Isn't she pretty??
I hope you all have a blessed day!

While the Husband's away the Wife will......

Craft!

Sheesh what did ya think I was going to say?  :)

Well I have been seeing these rosette's blowing up all over blogland! I have admired them from afar for awhile. Pining that one day I would buy a piece someone has made. Then I got to thinking I'm sure there are some tutorials out there on making these little gems. So I set to work to find something anything to help me learn how to make these! And about two weeks ago (yes, I know I have been busy) I found something! I have no idea where or who's blog it was but it really is the most simple thing in the world! When/If I find it I will edit this post to give the credit :)

So anyways I made these cute little rosettes out of some left over fabric from this project. Then I just kind of left the two cute little rosettes on my dresser for about a week and a half (again, yes I have been very busy) I wanted to make some cute hair clips out of them and finally about two days ago I got around to spray painting the hair clips blue to match my rosettes! So I went downstairs to my paint area and pick them up and brought them upstairs last night and hot glued them to the hair clips! I loved the way they turned out! Now all I need is to find the perfect blue or green shirt to go with them so that I can wear them to work :)

As you can see the paint didn't cover evenly towards the end, but I was ok with that!

The finished product!

Action shot!

One more action shot :)

Hope you enjoy my pictures! The cost of this project was free! I already had the spray paint from another project, the hair clips I had on hand, the fabric from the above project, and the super glue on hand! I love projects that have zero cost!

Hope you all have a blessed week!

Another little touch of Fall....

I found this mirror at one of our local thrift stores and immediately snatched it up! I knew it would look pretty in white! So I carefully took it apart and set the frame down and spray painted it white. Below are the before and after pictures :)

Before :)

I spray painted the frame white.

Another view.

I figured that this would eventually find a home on my dresser with some pillar candles and some sort of filler around the base of the candles, but for now it has a home here.

On my cute table in my living room. It holds my latest fall creation!
The materials needed for this project were fairly cheap.

Hurricane Vase - $1 GW (I already had this from a previous purchase at the GW)
4 Pack of fall leaves - $1 ea (I got mine from the Dollar Tree. They come in 150 count bags)
Silk fall leaves - I had these left over from my first fall project here so they were free (but the silk leaves cost $1 ea at the Dollar Tree.)

So roughly I spent $4 on this project. Not bad if I say so myself!
Oh and we can't forget my first Fall creation of the year....

All made with Dollar Tree silk flowers and leaves!

My husband now has the fall fever! He is ready for us to completely unleash fall decor in our house! He says it is making him excited because he knows the cool weather is coming. We live in SW Florida so this gives us both a sense of fall inside even though we can't experience it outside!

Tomorrow I will be uploading the pictures from my Bible study project! I am linking this project up to The CSI Project's The "Fall" Challenge. I hope everyone has a Blessed day!

From Spring/Summer to Fall

So this weekend I decided I needed to spruce the house up a tad bit for fall. (and when I say a tad I mean I really only did one thing) I decided to change out some of my fake flowers to make my home feel more autumny and so I did. I have bought some other stuff to help give our home this fall feeling but I still have to put them together! So here are a couple of pictures...
                                                                         Before....
After......

What do you think?? I think they turned out pretty good! These brown pots are prefect for Autumn colors! Everyday when I look at these I smile! I actually have one more touch of fall that I added to the house but I forgot to take a picture of it! I will do that tonight.

Also I finally finished my sisters chalkboard for her room... I haven't heard back from her yet but I hope she likes it!

Do you like it? I really like how hers turned out! And I really like the ribbon I used for it. It only cost me a few burnt fingers and a little frustration with trying to get the bow to cooperate but totally worth it!

Here is a sneak peak at another project that I will hopefully be finished with tonight!

If you can't read the price tag on this beauty I will tell you :) It cost me a total of 2.99 yep folks 3 bucks!!! She has a beautiful little design all the way around! I have something great in mind for this little gem! I will keep you posted on what's going on with her at a later date!

And one more sneak peak at another craft that I am making a lot of!

Check out the bottom left corner of the picture :) I spoke about this in another post that you can find Here towards the bottom of the post.

So has anyone else been feeling crafty lately? If so please share you idea's I would love to try anything new and fun!

Have a Blessed day!

Grateful Friday

So a lot of things have happened over the past few weeks. I have become a team leader for Bigenuf, you can read about that here and Jon my husband has finally after 2 years of my begging and pleading has quit smoking! I am literally jumping for joy! (Insert big smile and extremely happy dance here!) We made a promise to each other over two years ago that we would quit smoking together, I did, he didn't. It has been rough knowing that he didn't want to quit, rough trying to be a supportive wife and be understanding. But I was a supportive wife and I was understanding and I prayed my butt off! (That was the only way I survived through this all.) God answered my prayers after two years! He gave me the wisdom to help Jon through that rough week of his life. It has been 2 weeks ago today that he quit and I couldn't be more proud of the man I look up to day in and day out. I couldn't be more thrilled to watch my husband as God is forming him into this wonderful man who leads us with confidence! I see Jon smile a lot more now, I see him finding his worth in the little things in life and I see him growing, loving, living, laughing, EXERCISING! The list just goes on and on. As you notice I wrote exercising in caps well folks that would be because my husband doesn't exercise! He has told me since the day I met him that he is allergic to running and pretty much any exercise of any kind! And now pretty much every morning he is taking our son for an hour long walk! So in just two weeks I have watched my husband do this complete transformation and I can't help but smile and give praise to the one who made it all possible! Thank you so much God for answering my two year long prayer!

Completely going off subject now and onto other thoughts :) I have been thinking about making some gifts for the wonderful loving ladies I spend every Wednesday night with and for the wonderful loving people that serve on our team for bigenuf, and one thought that came to my mind was making some pretty scrap book paper / fabric covered composition books and little mini matching composition books for their purses. Kind of like this or this. I think they will be cute prayer request books for women that attend a Bible study or good for grocery lists and so on. I think the little mini comp books for the purse will come in handy when needing to jot down a quick reminder, or making a simple list to run to the store and get a few things, or maybe even in a time of need, oh lets say like when you accidentally back into someones car in the parking lot?? Just kidding but if it happens you have paper handy right? So what are your thoughts?

Craftyness

Here are a couple after pictures of some DIY projects (that are not completely finished yet) that my hubby and I worked on! Hope you like them :)
Above is a picture of our new dry erase board which will go down stairs on the back of our front door so that I can put a check list on it. I still have to add a ribbon at the top to hang it by. I will be making that out of left over fabric from the backing for the dry erase board!

Above is our new chalk board that will be hung in our kitchen/dinning area still has one more touch to be added :)

Sorry all I don't have any before pictures. But the total cost so far for each one is:

Dry erase board
                         fabric 1 yard: $3.18 @ Joanns
frame: $9 @ Saint Vicent De Paul Thrift Store
Spray paint: Free (Already had on hand from earlier project)

Chalk Board:
Chalk board spray paint: $5 @ Joanns
Cherry Red Spray Paint: $4 Joanns
Chalk: .99 cents @ Publix

Which brings the grand total for these two projects to:
$22.17

Not bad if I say so myself :)

And on the plus side next time we do something with Chalk board paint it will be fairly close to free :) One of my favorite words!
